Tally is one of the most generous free form builders available. But “unlimited” does not mean unlimited infrastructure: its own Fair Use Policy identifies consistently collecting 50,000 submissions per month as extensive usage. Tally deserves credit for changing expectations around free form builders. Conditional logic, calculations, payments, signatures, integrations and many other capabilities are available without paying. This comparison is not going to pretend otherwise.
The interesting differences are more specific: what “unlimited” actually means, which professional features still require Pro or Business, and what the product helps you do after the responses have been collected.

Tally’s pricing page says Free includes unlimited forms and submissions as long as usage stays within its fair-use guidelines. Its Fair Use Policy gives “consistently collecting high volumes of submissions — 50,000/month” as an example of extensive usage and says Tally may contact users whose usage puts pressure on its infrastructure to create a custom plan.
That does not make Tally’s Free plan bad — it is unusually generous. It does mean “unlimited” should not be read as a promise of literally unlimited infrastructure at any volume.

Tally gives a lot away. Professional and organizational features still move into paid plans.
Tally says 99% of its features are available free. Its own plan documentation also puts several capabilities teams commonly want behind Pro or Business.

The bigger difference
MyKayd is betting on what happens after collection
Trying to beat Tally by claiming “more free form fields” would miss the point. Tally is already extremely strong at generous form creation and collection. MyKayd’s more interesting direction is the loop after that: summarize what people are saying, expose completion and question-level drop-off, and let Form Watcher turn concrete evidence into recommendations you review.

Where Tally is stronger
Tally is the more mature form product today. It has built-in payments, signatures, calculations, webhooks, a broad integrations catalogue and a very generous free creation experience. If those capabilities are central to your workflow, Tally may be the better choice.
MyKayd is a younger product. The reason to try it is not that Tally is bad. It is that MyKayd is building a different workflow around understanding responses and continuously improving the form after launch.
